PTA
Our Mission
“To make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.”
Why is the PTA so important to our Newport El students?
Similar to our school's unique history, Newport Elementary PTA was one of the first to be established in California, and began in 1926. It remains one of the longest standing PTAs west of the Mississippi. Year after year, our PTA thrives on providing family and community based programs for the students of Newport El. Our volunteers, who give of their time and talent, ensure success in these programs.
PTA provides parents and teachers with a way to share their experience and knowledge about children. PTA members support public education and work to improve children's health and safety. PTAs speak on behalf of children--who can't effect change for themselves--at local, state and national government levels.
Membership is open to anyone who believes in the mission and purposes of the PTA. Every person who joins Newport Elementary PTA automatically becomes a member of both the state and national PTAs. Dues are $12.
