Conference Weeks November: 14th-18th and March 13th-17th
There will be NO SCHOOL for grades TK-6th on the Wednesday of Conference Weeks – November 16th and March 15th
Cafeteria lunch is available for TK – 6th grades. Prepaid cards are available and are encouraged. They may be purchased in the school office or cafeteria (checks made out to NMUSD).
To purchase with credit card you must do so on-line. You will need you child’s SID number, which is on their report card.
Please help your student come to school prepared with all of their items, including lunch. Should an item or lunch need to be brought to school after school starts, please drop off in the front office. Classrooms will not be interrupted to announce the arrival of a forgotten lunch. Items will be delivered as soon as time permits.
Please call the 24-hour absentee line before 9:00 a.m. on or before the day of the absence or your student will be marked truant/unexcused without notification.
If you need to pick up your child during the day, you must check in and sign your student out in the front office. The office will contact his/her teacher to have your child come to the office for pick-up.
Every 1st & 3rd Friday at 8:05 a.m., students participate in the Flag Deck Assembly. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend.
Many children walk or ride bikes. Please remember that helmets must be worn when riding and bikes must be walked across the boardwalk within the school boundaries; no items are to be left in the bike racks un-locked or overnight or on weekends.

Rainy or Severe Weather Days
Students may be dropped off after 7:45 a.m. and wait in the MPR until the bell rings.
Join the PTA and School Foundation. Newport El has active and supportive parents whose volunteer work is needed and appreciated. Parents assist in the classroom, library, computer lab, and playground, and on many committees on a daily basis. Both PTA and Foundation provide ongoing communications and opportunities to be involved.

When coming onto the Newport El campus you MUST come in through the front office, sign-in, and wear a “VISITOR/VOLUNTEER” sticker. For the safety of all students there is no access from any other doors or gates.
